Rosalba E., 87, was taken to a traditional hospital by her family out of concern for her sudden onset of severe confusion and seemingly diminishing mental state. With a medical history of hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, and diverticulitis, Mrs. Estrada was admitted for testing and found to have a high degree of urinary retention following a pelvic prolapse leading to a sling procedure. During her course of post procedure treatment, she developed and infection that lead to septic shock and a UTI. Rosalba was transferred to LifeCare to continue the necessary acute care. While with us, she received daily visits from our physicians, IV antibiotics to clear the infection, and personalized physical and occupational therapy to increase her overall recovery potential. Mrs. E worked hard with her clinical care teams and her progression has allowed her family to be comfortable in the decision to bring her home where they will continue home health care, as needed. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to collaborate treatment goals and care planning with Mrs. E and her family during her recovery and ultimately her journey back home.

Jaranda, one of our Patient Experience Managers, hosts regular domino games for patients who are able to venture out of their rooms and join her for some fun.
Each of our North Texas hospital locations has a dedicated Patient Experience Manager who checks-in regularly with all of our patients and their families throughout their time with us to assure their needs are being addressed and they are as comfortable - and entertained - as possible.
