Local organization stresses the importance of helping the homeless year-round Members of Uplift Charleston spent their Thanksgiving giving out truckloads of donations to the homeless community and others in need.

UPLIFT YOUR EYES AND CONFRONT THE UNCOMFORTABLENESS OF HOMELESSNESS:

We all suffer from a SIMILAR affliction. We drive through our communities each day, CHOOSING to ignore those around us who are homeless. It’s so EASY and CONVENIENT to do. ALL too often we witness a person in need at an intersection, bus stop, or LITERALLY sleeping on the street. We just keep driving as if they’re INVISIBLE because it’s COMFORTABLE. We look DOWN and avoid making eye contact, CHOOSING to ignore their plight. Lord knows I’ve been guilty of it too. However, I challenge ALL of us to embrace a NEW standard of comfort by beginning to LIFT UP our eyes and SEE those who were once invisible. Seeing is NOT enough. We must see, hear, and help them. ❤️
