Lahina - completely devastated by the fire. Some new rebuilds are happening and a few tiny houses. I have to say what is being built back is affordable, simple, honestly a lost opportunity to refine context, regionally appropriateness and sustainability.

From sunset over the surf to volcanoes and cliff diving, Hawai’i is dynamic for sure - Maui is 4 million years older than the big island so tropical the Big Island is a shield volcano surrounded by lava rock fields were the force of nature is slowly terra forming the landscape. Funny though. The resorts are oasis’s spotted around the lava coasts - Disney like places in stark contrast to the raw volcanic landscape. Cold rain forests at 4,500 elev.
