Proof that "20/20 eyesight" is only part of the story. ๐ฅฃ๐
Take a look at this Cheerios box maze. To a child, it's a fun game. To a developmental optometrist or vision therapist, it's a live-action demonstration of complex visual processing skills:
- Visual Sequential Memory (tracking the 1-40 sequence)
- Visual Figure-Ground (finding the target number amid a sea of distractors)
- Visual Discrimination (filtering out similar-looking, incorrect numbers)
A child can have perfect 20/20 visual acuity but still struggle significantly with these underlying processing skillsโwhich often translates to challenges with reading, concentration, and schoolwork.
If you've noticed your child struggling with visual tasks despite passing their school vision screening, letโs talk.

Better grades are great, but better game play? Thatโs what gets our patients excited! ๐ฏโฝ
While parents love seeing vision therapy translate to better focus in the classroom, our young patients are usually focused on one thing: their sport.
Whenever a patient has a passion, we love weaving Sports Vision Training into their program. Check out how we simulate high-speed environments in-office to train the specific visual skills needed for competitive mountain biking!
By connecting vision therapy to the sports they love, we keep training fun, engaging, and highly effective for the classroom and the field.

Teamwork makes the dream work! ๐ Last Saturday, we had the privilege of volunteering at the Georgia Special Olympics, working side-by-side with some incredible colleagues to give back to the community.
As part of the Lions Club International Opening Eyes program, this amazing team of eye care pros comes together every year to provide free vision screenings and support to these inspiring athletes. Proper vision care is a game-changer for sports and everyday life, and we love teaming up with our colleagues to make sure no athlete is left behind. ๐๐
Huge thank you to our team, the other dedicated optometrists, and the Lions Club for your unwavering dedication to this cause year after year!
