Sheriff Ron Freeman

the ranks to become Commander of the South Precinct from 2006-2013, and was elected Sheriff on May 24, 2016. Ron was chosen in 2013 to become the Deputy Chief of Police in the newly incorporated city of Brookhaven, Georgia. After creating and serving that police department for the past 2 years, Sheriff Freeman returned home to a successful campaign for Sheriff. Ron is a graduate of the nation’s top law enforcement leadership schools including the FBI National Academy, the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, the FBI Executive Development School, and UGA’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government Management. He is the past president of the FBI National Academy, Police Benevolent Association of Georgia and serves on the board of directors for the FBI Executive Development Association of Georgia. Ron has served on several area non-profit boards including the United Way Community Grants Committee, Family Haven Domestic Violence Shelter and Bald Ridge Boys Lodge, CASA and LEADER. Ron has been a youth football and softball coach for many years and has been active in teaching youth drug education, firearm safety, and women’s self-defense courses. Ron and Dana Freeman grew up in Forsyth County and are active in the First Baptist Church of Cu***ng where both served as middle school bible study leaders. They have been married for 32 years, and have 2 adult children, both graduates of North Forsyth High.
