Ever wondered where our coffee beans come from? Let us introduce you to !
We L😍VE their coffee, not just for it's great taste, but also because by partnering with them, we get to be a part of local and global LIFE CHANGE!
You might be asking yourself "Why should I buy from DC Cafe or Phoenix Roasters? How are they any different from other cafes or coffee companies?"
LOCALLY: Phoenix Roasters works consistently with five different homeless/addiction recovery ministries in their local community. They also donate a portion of every Nitro Brew keg sale to the Atlanta Mission, in downtown Atlanta. And through the Phoenix Community of Atlanta network, they are serving monthly at local shelters that stretch as far as an hour north of downtown. Providing meals, childcare, worship, mentorship, discipleship, lawn care, clothes, and anything else these organizations or homeless individuals might need.
GLOBALLY: One way that Phoenix Roasters serves communities on a global scale is by bringing reliable and empowering work to the farmers they purchase from. "But how much is the farmer truly making?" you might ask. Well on average, a farmer engaging in fair trade will make between 15-30 cents per pound via fair trade rates. How can this be? Because coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world, and the more something is traded, the easier it is to be corrupted. While fair trade rates are fair at the purchase of the cup of coffee, they can go through as many as EIGHT middle men before they finally reach the farmer. Each middle man takes out a portion of the rate, leaving the farmer with pennies. Phoenix Roasters engages in DIRECT TRADE, which ensures maximum compensation to their farmers. Straight from PR's bank account to the farmers, meaning Phoenix Roasters is paying $3-$4 per pound for their coffee. Ensuring that the farmer is making EXPONENTIALLY more than they would be through the fair trade market!
We are SO proud to get to partner with Phoenix Roasters, and we want to invite you to change the world with us, one cup at a time!
