Thanks to our Lake County 4-H Junior Leaders who recently participated in a lead poisoning education workshop, where they helped assemble lead testing kits that will soon be available to Lake County residents!

The kits can be used to test for potential lead in soil, dust, and water around the home. During the workshop, members also learned how a healthy diet rich in calcium, iron, and vitamin C can help reduce the body's absorption of lead.

Lead testing is an important step in identifying hidden hazards, protecting families from serious health risks, and helping create a safer home environment.

Stay tuned for more details as these lead testing kits are launched at public libraries throughout Lake County, making this important resource more accessible to our community.

This project is made possible through a partnership between the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District, Purdue Extension, and Indiana University.
