My base fee for custom stained glass designs starts at $150 per square foot. The cost rises the more complex a design gets. I also charge a sealing fee when necessary. The sealing process will essentially weather-proof your panel, keeping rainwater out, keeping wind drafts at bay, and keeping bugs from crawling in through the spaces in the lead. I charge an additional $50 for this service. It is n
ecessary when you are not installing over an existing window. Free hanging panels and transoms do not require this service, though I do recommend it for transoms. Do you require a deposit for commissions? I require a 50% deposit for all commissioned work. This deposit is non-refundable. It covers the time I have taken to design your window and the materials I have already reserved or ordered for the project. How long does it take you to make the window? Depending on the size of the job, it can take me anywhere from 1 week to 6 months. A transom or front door project will take me 1-2 weeks but a larger church job is more likely to take 6 months. Again, it all depends on the size of the job. Do you install the panels? I do not install them. For this, you can contact a contractor or handyman of your choice, or I can recommend a contractor I work with often who is a professional at installing windows.
