YOU CAN SURVIVE ~ The Basics of Fire

YOU CAN SURVIVE! ~ To start a campfire:
Gather your tinder, kindling, and fuel wood, and arrange them with good airflow to create a structure like a teepee or log cabin. ~ Light the tinder with a match or lighter, and gently blow on the base to feed the flames as the kindling catches. ~ As the fire grows, gradually add larger pieces of wood, being careful not to smother it, until the fire is well-established. ~
1. Gather materials
Tinder: Small, dry material that catches fire easily, such as dry leaves, grass, pine needles, or a commercial fire starter. Dryer lint or petroleum jelly-soaked cotton balls also work well.
Kindling: Small twigs and sticks that are larger than tinder but still small enough to be easily lit by the tinder.
Fuel wood: Larger, dry logs to keep the fire going once the kindling is burning well. ~~~
