Today’s presenter was Tony Sollars with WatchTower ITSolutions, and he took us on a fascinating journey through the history of computing.

Before moving into IT, Tony spent three years teaching K–8 students, and today he put those teaching skills to good use as he walked us through some of the biggest milestones in technology over the past century.

A few highlights included:
➡️1956: The term “Artificial Intelligence” was coined.
➡️1969: The military launched ARPANET, an early network designed to keep military communications operating even during times of war.
➡️1989: The World Wide Web was introduced by Swiss computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, who made it freely available to the world.
➡️2007: The iPhone changed the way we communicate and access information.
➡️2022: ChatGPT was introduced.
➡️2023: Claude launched, continuing the rapid evolution of AI.

It’s amazing to see how quickly technology has evolved and how many innovations we now use every day without giving them a second thought!
