Growers Ranch
12/10/2024
Dear Friends of Growers Ranch market:
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closing of Growers Ranch produce market, effective December 22, 2024. This decision has not been easy, but we have decided to set our sights on growing our wholesale business, Penjoyan Produce, starting in 2025, therefore we will not be reopening as a retail market after the holidays.
Since Rich & Peggy Penjoyan opened a roadside produce stand in this same location on Newport Boulevard in 1969, the Penjoyan Family has been incredibly fortunate and blessed to serve this community. Your support has meant the world to us and has kept us going for 55 years, and for that, we are extremely grateful. We have served several generations of local families and have had the privilege of employing the best staff in town over the years - we hold those memories dear to our hearts.
Before we say goodbye, we invite you to stock up on your favorite items and be sure to come in for our last ANNUAL sale Saturday, December 21st. You will enjoy 10% off your bill on 12/21 as a thank you for your loyalty over the years.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our journey. We hope to see you in the store one last time to share memories and goodbyes.
Warm regards, The Penjoyan Family

{Ingredients}
4 large pears (or 6 medium pears)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
opt. toppings: maple almond granola & plain Greek yogurt
{Instructions}
1.) Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a large baking pan (any size that will fit the halved pears) or line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
2.) Cut pears in half. Using a large or medium cookie scoop or melon baller (or a regular spoon), core out the seeds. Arrange pears, facing up, in/on the prepared baking pan/sheet. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon—feel free to add more cinnamon if you’d like.
3.) Whisk together the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Drizzle all over the pears.
4.) Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes, or until soft and lightly browned on the edges. If your pears were quite firm, you may need to extend the bake time. Remove from the oven. Serve warm with granola and yogurt, if desired.
5.) Cover and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
