This is an awesome lesson by my trainer Michelle in Pittsburgh. Teaching should be calm, quiet, and patient. You don’t want to muddy the water so to speak, and repeat your commands 15 times before your puppy has had any chance to comprehend what is going on. This game is also amazing for dogs who start to put on the breaks before going into the crate. If they crate to them means you are getting locked up and leaving the house, they will have a hard time with it. Teaching your dog that the act of walking into the crate is a good thing, and they will get rewarded for it, you start to make the crate the place where your dog wants to go. For a puppy that starts to freak out when the door starts to move, moving it around like this shows them it’s really not that big of a deal, because it isn’t.
