How can you use your voice to become the next, best version of you?
You CAN take your nervous energy and transmute it into a powerful performance.
1. Breathe with intention to slow your heart rate and calm your nervous system. Use a box breathing technique or a 5-5-8 pattern.
2. Lip trills to release any facial tension and provide a gentle warming of the vocal cords.
2.5. Humming will calm the nervous system by stimulating the vagus nerve. Use your whole range to stretch gently and keep the vocal folds warm and ready to go. It’s my personal favorite!
3. Shake it out! Wiggle like it’s your job (it kind of is in these moments before stepping on stage) and jump around. It will bring your body into joy and your brain can’t help but follow.
4. GO KICK SOME PROVERBIAL BUTT!! Bring your all and the audience will, too. Remember, they are rooting for you, too.
