You may find my practice on sites like Google Business, Yelp, Healthgrades, CareDash, Bing, or other places which list businesses. Some of these sites include forums in which users rate their providers and add reviews. Some of these sites comb search engines for business listings and automatically add listings regardless of whether the business has added itself to the site. If you should find my listing on any of these sites, please know that my listing is NOT a request for a testimonial, rating, or endorsement from current or former clients. The American Counseling Associationโs Code of Ethics states that counselors should not solicit testimonials from clients, and I adhere to this code. Clients have a right to express their thoughts and feelings on any site they wish, but due to confidentiality, I cannot respond to reviews, positive or negative. And in doing so they make public their protected health information. Because of this, I strongly encourage past and former clients to refrain from leaving business profile reviews even if they are positive reviews. While I truly appreciate the positive feedback, I would rather clients share it directly with me than risk their privacy. The same goes for negative reviews. I welcome constructive feedback and want my clientsโ experience in therapy to be positive and productive. I encourage clients to bring concerns directly to me so we can work on it together versus taking it to a public forum, risking confidentiality in the process. Current and former clients should also be aware that if they plan to use these sites to communicate indirectly with me about their feelings or concerns, there is a good possibility that I may never see it. Past or current clients who are unsatisfied with my response to their concerns may contact the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council by phone at 512.305.7700, on their website at www.bhec.texas.gov or via mail at 1801 Congress Avenue, Suite 7.300, Austin, TX 78701.

If your loved oneโs is experiencing serious health challenges, you may find yourself grieving long before a loss actually occurs.
This is called anticipatory grief.
Many people feel confused by the mixture of emotions that can arise during this season. You might feel sadness, fear, anxiety, guilt, gratitude, hope, exhaustion, or even moments of joy. All of these experiences can coexist.
Anticipatory grief is not a sign that you are giving up on your loved one. It is a reflection of the deep bond you share and the reality that your life is already being affected by changes occurring in the present.
Be gentle with yourself.
You do not have to carry every emotion alone, and you do not need to wait until after a loss to seek support.
Healing begins when we allow ourselves to acknowledge what is true, while still remaining present for the moments that matter most.
โค๏ธ If youโre walking this journey with a loved one know that your feelings are valid.

Many people think anxiety always looks panicked or emotional.
Often it looks like:
โข shutting down
โข emotional exhaustion
โข brain fog
โข irritability
โข avoidance
โข difficulty relaxing
โข trouble sleeping
The nervous system speaks through symptoms long before words.
