My kind of eye exam.

It's been a while since I posted. Life had been very hectic. But today, several of my favorite bridle and bit companies reached out to let me know how tariffs are about to impact us in the US.
Tariffs are charged to the shipper. Unless your shipper is extremely generous and willing to eat those fees, which may be as low as 10% and as high as 75%, the prices we all pay will go up accordingly. Due to new rules imposed by the US related to tariffs, there will be additional time and processes involved in shipping to the US as a code must be applied to each item in each order based on a table supplied to shipping entities outside the US. So, expect delays and higher prices.
So if your item is made in India and shipping from Canada, for example, beginning August 29, you'll be charged an additional 35% plus customs and duty fees. We do not yet know how much customs and duty fees will be. If you were to have this item shipped directly from the manufacturer in India, right now, you'd pay an additional 25%, but there may be an additional 50% applied soon for a total of 75% more. Plus customs and duties.
I'm not advocating for or against purchasing from any specific brand or any specific country. Some items many of us rely on for various reasons simply are not made in the USA.
We all need to be aware of how tariffs work and how being an equestrian or equine professional is about to cost a lot more. This will impact small businesses, resellers, equine professionals (like fitters), and, of course, equestrians.
I made a quick table of all the brands I could think of (I know I've missed quite a few) and the country the brand is manufactured in, if that information is readily available. You can look up tariffs by country on many websites, and I encourage everyone to do so regularly.
I want all my clients to be aware. I want all equestrians to be prepared for varying degrees of sticker shock.
