"On October 29, 1969, the first message was sent over ARPANET (the precursor to the internet). The connection stretched about 350 miles between a lab at UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute (SRI).
The plan was for the UCLA student, Charley Kline, to type the word "LOGIN."
He typed "L"—Stanford confirmed they received it.
He typed "O"—Stanford confirmed.
He typed "G"... and the system crashed.
So, the very first long-distance computer communication in history was simply "LO." They got the full system back up and running about an hour later, but that first "Lo" became the "Hello World" of the networking age. This is where the term LO Jack came
