On Monday, June 22, 2026, Contra Costa Fire will conduct a 2-2.5 acre prescribed fire on Hunsaker Canyon. It aims to reduce fuel loads, eliminate invasive plant species, and lower fire risks during Red Flag weather events.

Crews will begin operations at 9:00 a.m.

Some light smoke may be visible in nearby areas during the prescribed burn. If you or someone in your household is sensitive to smoke, we recommend keeping windows and doors closed and limiting outdoor activity during the operation.

If you see smoke within the designated area, please do not call 911 — our crews are on scene and actively managing the operations. However, if you see smoke or fire outside the planned area, or if something doesn’t look right, please call 911 immediately.
