If you are looking to foster or foster-to-adopt there are two routes: public and private. To go the public route, contact your county's DSS and find out when the 10-week classes begin (usually they will have them twice a year). To go the private route, there are several agencies in North Carolina that do private foster care. Essentially the state contracts out to them, and they certify and license. I found this video shortly after I felt stirred by the Lord to become active in the lives of foster children and orphans. Watching this video tore my heart and sealed the deal for me, I knew I needed to step up and do something.

When we had a foster child brought to our home, this video came to mind. We had no idea what had unfolded in that 9 year old life, but we were certain it looked something like what was portrayed in this video. He had been moved to 7 different homes and was deeply attached to the few things that came with him that he could call his own. He had seen a lot in his 9 years. More than any child should ever have to endure.

This is very real. These kids need us.
