Redstone Husky Rescue

It has been a long time coming. Being 75% Husky and 25% German Shepherd made Cosette overlooked by the majority of people. She is a lot of energy, a lot of drama, and a big personality. She came to Redstone after being at her shelter for several months, and here she made several friends that she watched all of adopted over time. She came to us on 9/9/23 and it was a rough time to be a rescue dog. Adoptions stalled and applications were few and far between. Often I tell them that this just means their person isn't looking for them yet. Well, on 5/24/26 Cosette's people finally met her. She is exactly what they were looking for and she is now in her happily ever after. Sometimes, all they truly do need is a little time to find each other.

🐾 Meet Goliath 🐾

Not every rescue story ends with an adoption.

Sometimes, the happy ending looks a little different.

Goliath came to us after being abandoned at a doggy daycare. He was a big dog with a lot of anxiety, a lot of uncertainty, and a history of struggling when life changed around him.

Like many rescue dogs, his journey wasn't straightforward.

He was adopted once but returned when he had difficulty adjusting to his new home. Later, we tried a working placement where we hoped he could thrive with a job and plenty of space. Unfortunately, Goliath had his own ideas about livestock management, and that placement wasn't the right fit either.

At that point, we had a choice to make.

We could continue trying to fit Goliath into a life that wasn't working for him, or we could accept what he was telling us.

What Goliath needed wasn't another home.

He needed stability.

This may surprise some people, but we don't actually like the concept of sanctuary dogs.

Our goal is always to help dogs move on to permanent homes of their own. We believe dogs deserve families, couches, routines, and lives that don't revolve around rescue.

A sanctuary placement is not something we seek out. In fact, Goliath is a rarity for us.

But rescue isn't about making decisions that make us feel good. It's about making decisions that are best for the dog standing in front of us.

For Goliath, every major transition brought stress. Every attempt to start over meant another adjustment, another period of uncertainty, another struggle.

What he needed wasn't another chance.

What he needed was permission to stop trying.

Today, Goliath is our sanctuary dog.

He has become a permanent member of the Redstone Husky Rescue family. While he still doesn't love major changes, he has settled into a life where his anxiety is manageable, his needs are understood, and his quality of life is good.

He watches dogs come and go through the rescue. He greets newcomers, supervises daily activities, and reminds us that success doesn't always look the way we expected it would.

Sometimes success is an adoption.

Sometimes success is a second chance.

And sometimes success is recognizing that a dog has already found the place where they feel safe.

We're proud of how far this big guy has come, and we're grateful that he trusts us enough to call this place home.
