Most store-bought bread is made with commercial yeast and designed for speed, softness, and a long shelf life. Many loaves are mixed, proofed, and baked within just a few hours.

Traditional sourdough is different.
It’s naturally fermented using a live starter made from flour and water, then slowly fermented over many hours — sometimes more than 24.

That slower process helps create:
• A deeper, richer flavor
• A chewier texture and crisp crust
• Better natural keeping qualities
• Simple ingredients without unnecessary additives

Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn’t on our side this weekend. With rain expected throughout Saturday, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this Saturday’s Midland Mix Market Series on May 9th 🌧️

As much as we were looking forward to another amazing market day, our priority is making sure both our vendors and community have the best experience possible and spending the day in the rain just isn’t it.

We know this is disappointing, but we appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support of Street Food Saturdays and our local small businesses.

The good news? We’ll be back on June 6th for the next Midland Mix Market Series — same place, same time, and all your favorite vendors, food, shopping, and fun.

We can’t wait to see everyone then.

The Midland Mix Market Series is set to become your new favorite mini market experience at Midland Commons, kicking off with Street Food Saturdays on May 9th. This community-centered market brings together the best local flavors — Freaky Fries, Bennett's Smoke House, and Fizzed & Fueled along with fresh finds and good vibes, all in one place.
