Not only is homelessness prevalent, it is also expensive. The greatest expense is often in the provision of emergency response services, which are far more costly than temporary or permanent housing. Other communities who have implemented a 10-year plan have seen significant savings in the area’s public systems, including reduced use of hospital emergency rooms, ambulances, EMT, fire prevention, law enforcement and other services.
