My cover to Poison Ivy #22 (May 2024). Always a joy to revisit the comic books of my youth.
🌿
Poison Ivy was introduced as a foe for Batman in 1966. With a poisonous kiss and supernatural control over plants, she represented the two deepest fears of the 8-year-old male readership: girls and vegetables.
⏳
Over the years, the character was reinvented as an ecoterrorist, and the target audience has aged and diversified.
🙏
Huge thank you to editors Eddy Choi and Arianna Turturro for working on this with me. Also thank you to president who cemented my love of comics as a 10-year old.
🙏
Poison Ivy was originally created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino.
