"We started with a grant, some hopes and some dreams,” Hosni said. “Now we have two funded scholarship endowments, and we receive support from alumni who care about this program and care about the idea that students in recovery deserve the opportunity to have a safe place on campus to pursue their dreams. Having a substance-use disorder doesn’t mean your life is over. You can reinvent yourself.”

Ohio State’s Collegiate Recovery Community celebrates 10 years When Ahmed Hosni, assistant director of the Student Life Student Wellness Center and head of the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) at The Ohio State University, first arrived in Columbus 10 years ago, he didn’t think he’d be a Buckeye for long. A decade later, however, he’s still on campus.....

We are proud that our Recovery is Spoken Here Recovery Ally Training can be shared with other institutions looking to engage their campuses in creating recovery friendly environments. Our very own Ahmed Hosni will be leading this train the trainer!

Join us on November 30, 2023, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET for "Recovery is Spoken Here: Recovery Ally Train the Trainer." This training is essential for anyone looking to engage faculty and staff in becoming allies to students in recovery or seeking recovery, fostering a culture of acceptance and empowerment on campus. This 4-hour session, led by our Director of Recovery, Ahmed Hosni, provides all the materials you need to bring this training to your campus.

Happy spooky season from us to you! Having fun in recovery is important so over the weekend CRC students took part in our annual trip to the Lynd’s Fruit Farm corn maze. This year’s theme was Indiana Jones are our students were successful in finding all eight treasures in the 8-acre maze before enjoying a bonfire.

The CRC joined other partners around campus to help students take a break during RECESS yesterday! Each table had an activity to promote play and self-care. Students loved coloring stickers while also learning about celebrities in recovery and the work the CRC does to support recovery at The Ohio State University.

Introducing our new alcohol and other drug student team! We are so fortunate to have a group of passionate student educators who support all of our prevention and recovery education on campus. They have been instrumental in supporting our Recovery Month efforts and naloxone outreach.
