Vickie and I took a trip yesterday to go see “Marks Mellon Patch” in Dawson, GA, Plains, GA and Andersonville civil war prison.
First photos are of Mark‘s melon patch down in Dawson, second group is at Plains Georgia as we went to see Carter’s home, but it was not available for visiting so I took some pictures of the train station where he conducted his run for presidency
The last set is of Andersonville, Civil War prison
The photo of the 6 grave markers by themselves, are of the “Raiders” who were also prisoners, but they took it on themselves to go, rob, beat and steal from the other prisoners.
Finally, after a while, the prisoners got a hold of the commandant of the prison and wanted something to be done about them. The Commodore put them on a trial for their crimes and they were all convicted and hung.
They would not let them be buried along with the other prisoners so they were put off to the side and that’s why you see the six markers by themselves.
If you like history, it’s a neat thing to look up and learn about Andersonville
