“Betty y su Familia”
•oil on panel: Originally finished back in August.
•a coworker approached me and wanted me to paint her favorite family portrait. I am always up for any painting challenge. But painting a baby was going to be especially difficult. Their smooth face makes the planes of the face a little harder to discern.
That being said I spent many an evening and many a 6-pack taking on this challenge.
•This was the most amount of portraits I had painted all in one piece, and I’m damn proud of this piece.

“The Streets of Paris”
I had the chance to visit France twice in my life.
The second time I went was after a heartbreak, I spent nearly a month traveling between Spain, France, Germany, Denmark, and Egypt.
This reference image was taken during my second time there where I got to explore the city on my own terms by myself.
It was lonely but it made me appreciate all the times in the future when I wasn’t.

“Somewhere in Pisa, Italy”
Oh…I’m sorry did I forget to post the last few paintings for the “painting a day for May”? Silly me.
• Did the daunting task of posting my art on TWO DIFFERENT social media apps get to me? (Maybe)
••Anyways, you’ll notice the color spleashes in the background of the painting, yes?
Well the original reference image I took (In Pisa, Italy) had a bunch of 500 year old frescoes that had been worn down by time and the elements.
The splashes of color in the background is my best approximation of the feeling those frescoes gave me.
