Every year when we come to the beginning of Deuteronomy, we are also close to a Jewish observance called Tisha B'Av (the 9th of Av). This year, Tisha B'Av begins at sundown on July 22nd and continues through Thursday the 23rd.

Zeal is the Deal We are entering the period of the Hebrew calendar known as the Three Weeks. They begin on the 17th day of Tammuz, July 2 this year, a date marking the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem by the Romans in 69 CE.

Moses faces another challenge as he leads the children of Israel through the wilderness.

Fall on Your Face This week, Moses faces another challenge as he leads the children of Israel through the wilderness. Between chapters 14–20, we read that Moses “fell on his face” five separate times.
