String Theory Classic Rock Group consists of 4 musicians and a sound engineer: Kerry, Arie, Eric, Bruce and Mallory. Our sound and music is crisp, clean but not overwhelming or distorted, allowing our music to be easily enjoyed by all. Due to our sleek sound system and the use of an electronic percussion pad, we are able to produce full bodied music using very little stage space. Our sound board i
s a wireless tablet that eliminates cables on the floor other than what is necessary on the stage itself. Bruce Goll, our percussionist, born and raised in Kansas was playing drums at an early age with his first professional gig at the age of 8 and was in a Rock ‘n’ Roll band at the age of 11. He played with a wide variety of bands and musical styles in the Kansas City area during the 1960’s and in Oklahoma in the 1970’s. He landed in Columbus, Ohio in 1979, where he has continued to be the driving heartbeat of the best local bands in Columbus. Bruce’s performance demonstrates his technical chops, outstanding dynamics that are clear, steady, polished, with an effortless, natural ability to flex and flow between musical styles. Kerry Patesel, plays diverse instruments such as the mandolin, 12 string guitar, lead guitar and a surprising variety of other instruments. Kerry produces a wide range of musical voices from falsetto to deep bass. Kerry has been in various bands in the Columbus area for greater than 40 years and simply enjoys sharing music with an audience. Kerry has a passion to learn new music, new musical techniques and to produce high quality musical entertainment. Arie Shively, guitarist and lead vocalist has commanding vocals, natural talent and an inborn love of music passed down to her from generations of her musical family. With a voice that is reminiscent of Grace Slick, Anne Lennox and Adele, her vocal talents are extraordinary and impressive. Arie’s powerful vocals can flow effortlessly and smoothly from smoky blues, bright pop, driving rock to soft and sensual. Her natural ability to harmonize adds richness, depth and complexity to String Theory Classic Rock performances. Eric Dalesandry, the band bassist, plays the lowest notes while blending perfectly with our percussionist, fleshing out the sound while laying down the foundations of harmony and rhythm. Eric connects the beat to the body of the music creating a sonic link between the harmonic, rhythmic, and melodic elements of the group’s music. You will also find him singing lead and backup vocals in a variety of musical genres. The fifth dimension of String Theory is like dark matter, you may not see it but it holds the entire band together with sound that is clean, clear and perfectly balanced. Mallory Jones is the engineer who controls the sound for your listening pleasure. Look for her in the audience running the sound board from a notepad. Don’t be surprised if you see her onstage adding vocal harmonies to a tune or two. The greatest strength of String Theory Classic Rock Group is the incredible bonds of friendship and closeness that the band has developed over the decade that they have been together. They cover groups from the 50’s to current tunes and are continually updating and refining the musical experience. Come and share an evening of sweet music with us.
