She was at work saving lives when her own daughter’s life was suddenly in danger.

Sophia Forchas is just 12 years old.

She was critically injured in the Minneapolis school shooting and rushed into the ICU.

The same ICU where her mom works as a pediatric nurse.

Sophia has already been through emergency surgery, and her road to recovery will be long.

Her own mom responded to her shooting.

Her younger brother was also at school that day. He wasn’t physically hurt, but he carries the weight of what he witnessed.

An 8 year old and a 10 year old child were killed in the attack.

8 and 10.

It makes me so sad and so furious that this keeps happening.

Over and over again, children are paying the price.

Holding the Forchas family close to my heart, and thinking of every parent, student, teacher and healthcare worker touched by this tragedy.

This must stop.
