"My son, Blake, was an organ donor. We lost him to a diaphragmatic hernia, which is a rare condition.
When Blake got his driver’s license, he was asked if he wanted to be an organ donor. I’ll never forget his response. He said, ‘Yes, I want to do that.’
I later heard from one of his recipients. She was a college student who was very active. She played basketball, ran track and did all kinds of activities, but she was no longer able to do those things. Blake gave her her active life back.
I was so happy Blake was able to do that, and I know Blake would be happy, too."

"Jerry was 16, and just before his birthday, we discussed whether he wanted to be a donor on his permit and driver’s license. He asked me what that meant. When I explained it, he said, ‘Of course. Why would anyone not be a donor?’ I didn’t have an answer. I didn’t expect that six months later, I would be in a position where I would be so very glad we had that conversation, because I knew how he felt and what he wanted.
Our contact at the organ procurement organization (OPO) helped walk us through that process when my miracle boy was able to be a miracle for someone else." —Krysty
