Ruling Our eXperiences directly addresses the challenges that girls face during their adolescent years including drops in self-esteem and self-confidence, less interest in certain subjects in school including math and science, lower confidence in their bodies and appearance, difficulty forming healthy relationships with peers as well as dating partners, and dealing with violence -- particularly sexual violence.
Being a caring adult in a girl’s life means that our number one goal is to make them feel like what they have to say is valuable and that they are the most important person in our lives.
When girls know they can talk to us without judgment, they’ll feel safe to keep sharing with us in the future.
And the more they are able to share with us, and be supported in return, the better off she’ll be.
Remember: practice your communication with regular casual conversations, so that when something big happens in your life, she knows she can come to you.
