Why We Need More Urban Entrepreneurs in America:

The greatest way to accumulate wealth in America by far is through entrepreneurship. African-Americans make up 12.6% of the American population, and of the 39,700,000 African-Americans in the U.S., less than 10% of Black folks are small business owners. While White Americans have a 70.9 percent rate of entrepreneurship, and make up 68.8 percent of the American population. Look at the disparity!

According to the Center for Global Policy Solutions, it is estimated that these missing Black owned businesses in America could produce an estimated 9 million more jobs and boost our national economy by $300 billion. Thus, expanding entrepreneurship among people of color is an essential strategy for creating greater wealth in the Black community. Both Asian and Hispanic Americans have a much higher rate and percentage of entrepreneurship than that of African-Americans. It’s time to make a change!

Facts to Consider:

Less than 2% of African-Americans ever acquire a million dollars worth of total assets in their entire lifetime. While 39% of White American households have a million dollars of assets.
