Augusta Chiwy’s courage and compassion were honored with one of Belgium’s highest distinctions when she was named a 𝐊𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 in 2011. It was a powerful recognition of her selfless service during wartime, something she always spoke of with humility, saying, “I only did what I had to do.” ✨

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to others. 🇺🇸

At the Augusta Chiwy Foundation, remembering stories of extraordinary courage and selfless service is at the heart of everything we do. Augusta herself risked her life caring for wounded American soldiers during the Siege of Bastogne in World War II in December of 1944, as many will better recognize this as a part of the larger “Battle of the Bulge,” a story the world almost forgot.
Today, we are reminded that every act of service, seen or unseen, deserves to be remembered. Honor the past. Inspire the future. 💙
