❤️❤️❤️ Your mouth is more connected to your overall health than most people realize. Studies have shown that gum inflammation and oral bacteria can contribute to inflammation elsewhere in the body, including the cardiovascular system, making regular dental care an important part of heart-healthy habits.

Daily brushing, flossing, and routine cleanings help keep gum tissue healthy and reduce harmful bacteria. These simple steps support not only a healthier smile but also the systems in your body that rely on balanced, low-inflammation conditions.

This February, Heart Health Month is a great reminder that preventive dental care is about more than just teeth — it’s about supporting your whole-body wellness at every stage of life. 🦷❤️

🪥🪥🪥 Electric Toothbrushes for Kids: Pros, Cons, and What Dentists See!

Electric toothbrushes are designed to do much of the work for the brusher. Many models include built-in 2-minute timers and 30-second pacing alerts, which help children brush long enough and cover all areas of the mouth. The consistent motion can also remove plaque more effectively than manual brushing when technique is still developing.

Additional Benefits:
• Helps children with limited hand strength or coordination
• Encourages better brushing habits through structure and routine
• Can reduce missed spots, especially along the gumline
• Often increases brushing compliance for kids who resist brushing

Things to Keep in Mind:
• Proper supervision is still important, especially under age 7
• Brush heads should be replaced every 3 months or after illness
• Not every child likes vibration at first
• Manual brushing can still be effective when done correctly

Electric toothbrushes can be a helpful tool for many children, but they’re not required. What matters most is brushing twice daily for two minutes, using fluoride toothpaste, and maintaining regular dental visits. Schoning Dental will work with you and your family to recommend brushing tools that fit each child’s age, needs, and comfort level. 🦷🩵
