☀️ Summer brings more freedom, independence, and opportunities for young people to explore new experiences. As caring adults, we can help ensure those experiences support healthy development. Create opportunities for connection by replacing some screen time with family activities, conversations, or outdoor fun. Encourage healthy risk-taking through sports, volunteering, leadership opportunities, learning new skills, or exploring new hobbies. These experiences help young people build confidence, strengthen relationships, develop a sense of purpose, and make healthy choices. Strong connections, clear expectations, and meaningful opportunities to grow are protective factors that can help reduce the likelihood of substance use and other risky behaviors.
