"That's What I Like About You"

On this song, I simply like the catchiness of the chorus. Also, the 10 year old beat, which I deemed too good to sell or share so I knew I had to write a song for it.

Other than that, I found a crazy sounding synth and all I had to do was hold down one note on the midi piano. You will hear it every other bar on the verses. I believe I successfully made my lyrics and tone of my voice match that synth. It wasn't easy, but worth it. In doing so, the stanzas of the verses are pretty random as well as the topics of the verses barely match what the chorus is about. But hey, the lyrics are pretty fun with this song too and it was definitely more fun to record.

The vocals overlap at the end. It's not a good example of it, but I have other unreleased tracks I will point out when the time comes that overlap 3+ vocal tracks at the same time. I want to make this part of my unique style as an artist.

"Lost In The Music"

I was listening to one of the first songs I had ever released in high school called "Livin' In The Moment" (Listen: https://on.soundcloud.com/Mff63) and I liked how I had the beat change at the very end of the song. I wanted to make a completely new song out of it. At first, I wasted a LOT of time messing with the 30+ tracks all playing at the same time to try to find the perfect mix, but there was simply too much going on at once, so I ended up taking at least half of them out to truly simplify the final song.

The second part of the first verse uses many harmonies, which I would also like to be part of my unique style as previously mentioned. Also, that bumpin' bass!

"Wait, Pt. 2"

The magic of this song is cussing without cussing. I don't actually say the cuss words in the song, and there's no explicit version, but they're implied. My intention was for the listeners' minds to subliminally complete the rhymes. For more clarity, the somewhat bleeped out cuss words below are what this song doesn't say and still makes sense without being there:

"Yeah, you got that p()$$y, I just want to know if you want this d!ck"

as well as...

"Wait, hold up, don't fuss, I don't wanna fight babe I just wanna f()ck"

At the time I thought I wrote the most genius lines. I guess I got the idea from a funny song we made in the past called "Personality" (Listen: https://on.soundcloud.com/bpDQY) where we made the trick as obvious as possible. Regardless, I figured I had solved the problem that those dirty dance songs have where people like the beat but won't listen because of the cussing. Now people of all ages can listen to this track, but only adults will be able to pick up on the sexual, non-existent references.

"I Feel Your Vibe"

Fun fact: in the first verse, the lyric used to be "get to humpin' like jack rabbits" haha... but I thought that was too corny and provocative, so I changed it to "get to jumpin' like jack rabbits". I was inspired by Lil Wayne's style of creative/catchy ABCB stanzas when writing the verses on this song.

Overall, my writing process is pretty simple; I just listen to the tone of the beat and the lyrics basically write themselves. However, sometimes I'll only think of a little snippet of a verse and no rhyme, and then later on I'll add it to what I already have for another song or finish the rhyme.

"Just Keep Dancing"

I take pride in the ABAB rhyming in this track. Other than that, I imagine this song would be great for a dancing scene in a Madagascar or Guardians of the Galaxy type movie. That's all I have to say about this one.

"Groove"

This one is another beat from my mentor and brother Camden Storm. It did use a sample of the intro of "Come Softly To Me" by the Fleetwoods, but I didn't have the patience, resources nor money to clear the sample. So we recorded our own vocals and guitar for it.

I like how happy this song is. The harmony was too hard to figure out, so I added a vocoder/talk box.

"Turn Up The Heat"

This song turned out to be an absolute banger. It took a while to get the bass to bump that good. It only had the chorus lyrics done when I had the rest of the album finished, but it seemed like a dance song to me, so I figured I had to include it and wrote a quick verse for it.

I imagine this one being perfect for playing in a football stadium between plays. It deserves to be listed higher on the album, but I threw it on the end of the album as a bonus since it's short and to leave the listener with an awesome song to remember "The Mojo" by. It also deserves a second verse, so maybe later down the road I'll find a feature or do it myself and release a remix.

If you're reading this, I appreciate your interest and support with caring to learn the meanings behind my silly songs. I highly doubt I will do these song meanings again for future albums... I'm generally pretty busy and I also will have to find other, better ways to gain a loyal following. I'm thinking that YouTube videos would be a better platform for this behind the scenes type of stuff so you can hear and see exactly what I'm referring to. This was my first time around with dropping an album in the streaming age, so next time I will be able to start where I left off and focus on bigger things.

My next album will be about life and will be chill stuff to listen to in the car. As of right now, it's planned to be called "The Human Experience". It's almost done, but I have samples to clear, as well as cover art and music videos to create. So it will certainly be a while. Maybe I'll drop some singles in the meantime, but until then, stay tuned!

"The Mojo" song meaning 2 of 10:

"Wait, Pt. 2" is my favorite song on the album. As I will tell you about many future songs, the beat, melody notes and chorus lyrics came to me in a dream. Lately, these dreams have had original song ideas. When I woke up, I immediately created what was still fresh on my mind. Originally, it had a funky, acoustic bassline... but after simplifying the beat, I liked the way it bumped without it. The reggae feel to it makes it awesome in my opinion. "Wait, Pt. 1" used to be part 2, but I switched them because I thought it was that much better. Camden thought it sounded like "The Sign" by Ace Of Base, so I added that song as a sample, but it was just too much going on. The rap at the end was created by listening to the beat and improvisation writing on the spot; I got off topic, hence why I mention that at the very end. The chorus was very hard to sing, so I had to layer a couple tracks and I learned how to use the fine tuning version of the autotune on Logic Pro X rather than just setting a key and sensitivity.

After 10 years, I chose The Mojo as my first album released to reignite my music career. “The Mojo” is all about dancing with community. Especially due to the times we’re currently experiencing, the main intention of The Mojo is to revive the spirit of dancing. Remember dance parties? We desperately need an escape… to let off some steam. In my opinion, music and dance are the best outlets to celebrate with those we know, and those we don’t. Let’s put our differences aside and realize having fun is far more important than being right. All 10 tracks are made for dancing: nightclubs, parties, and grooving in the living room with your socks on.

The Mojo and the next four albums I have planned have no explicit language… 100% clean lyrics. I want families of all ages to be able to jam out to these albums.

With over 10 other albums with lyrics written and beats ready for vocals, and some already done, The Mojo is just the start to my masterpiece. I am a perfectionist at heart. If you give The Mojo a listen and aren’t a fan, understand I take pride in my versatility. So, give my next album a chance… because it will be much different than this one.
