I’m gonna be honest with you, the holiday season is already bumming me out because all day long, I’m being cajoled by companies I don’t know to buy crap I don’t want or need. I think there’s a fine line between making your products more accessible during the holidays and exploiting the urgency of the season to hit your numbers, and this year it feels like every single company is taking advantage of that delicate balance.
That’s why this holiday season, I’m trying a different approach: I’m applying an *automatic* 15% off discount to all products bought on www.ujjo.com through 11:59pm on 12/24—no flash sales, no onslaught of emails and texts, no targeted ads (and no reminders other than this one).
As a lot of you know, Ujjo started out as a joke and it still feels surreal that people around the world are buying *and enjoying* a product that I made. It’s something that I’m grateful for every single day, so if my hot sauce would make you or a loved one smile during the holidays, I want to make that a little easier during a super expensive and stressful time of year.

Am I the only one who starts going into hibernation as soon as the temp drops below 75? I woke up this morning and didn’t want to do anything but curl up with a book and a piece of pie…but since that wasn’t really an option, I decided that treating myself to a spicy little fall drink was the next best thing.
If you’ve never heard of a French soda, it probably sounds pretty wacky off the bat…but it’s no wackier than a hot sauce for coffee 😉 A typical French soda uses sparkling water, syrup, and a splash of half and half, but I decided to simplify it (and zhuzh it up) by subbing in a pumpkin cider for the sparkling water. The great thing about this drink is that it works well in hot weather, in cold weather, and it takes less than 5 minutes to put together. Try it out and let me know how it goes!
Ingredients:
- 1 12 oz can pumpkin cider (I like Pumpkin Blend)
- 1 tsp Dark Roast Ujjo
- 1/4 cup coconut cream
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ginger
- 1 pinch cloves
- 1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
Steps:
1. Whisk your coconut cream in a small bowl until frothy and smooth (make sure to get out all the lumps!)
2. Pour cider into a glass and mix Dark Roast Ujjo, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and honey (if you want it extra sweet). Be careful not to stir too vigorously, because it will start to fizz!
3. Top with coconut cream.
4. Grab your flannel, light a candle, and bask in autumnal glory. 🍂
