Here’s another update wrapping up the 23-24 school year!

Understanding the severity of injury is vital to interpreting the results of the STATBI study! In our study, 63% of our participants have a credible history of mild/concussion with persistent symptoms, 15% have moderate injury and 22% with severe injury!

Injury severity has been shown to be one of key ingredients for different social, behavioral and health outcomes after a TBI. We will continue to provide more stats and updates from the STATBI project; follow us for more!

That STATBI lab is eager to share some more facts regarding during Brain Injury Awareness Month!

For youth that have experienced a , and specifically a concussion, it is very common to have symptoms that are linked to mental health concerns such as feeling more anxious, irritable, etc.

Some ways to potentially lower the risk of emotional challenges is by talking through feelings, staying active and going outside, and providing/receiving encouragement during the recovery journey! Learn more at the listed link or check out our story for more info!

NPR has presented us with an interview surrounding traumatic brain injury research provided by “All Things Considered,” entitled A small study offers hope for people with traumatic brain injuries. This interview gives insight from a tbi survivor and discusses a study suggesting that deep brain stimulation can improve focus and attention in people recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
