See Brilliance

District 5 — the City of Columbus wants to hear from you, and See Brilliance is here to help make that happen.

Through Our Voice, Our Choice, Columbus's first-ever Participatory Budgeting initiative, residents will have a direct say in how $9 million in city funding gets invested — with an equal share going to each of the nine Council Districts, including ours. Over the next few months, you can submit project ideas, help shape them into real proposals, and vote on the final decisions. If you're 14 or older, you can submit. If you're 16 or older, you can vote.

The best ideas come from the people who actually live here. So tell us — what does District 5 need? Our STEAM Coalition brought adults and youth together for an honest, nourishing conversation about food, health, and our future. Parents, educators, and community members sat around a shared meal and talked about the real impact of processed foods and Type 2 diabetes on our communities — not in a clinical way, but in a human one, led by Paula Penn-Nabrit of Telos Inc. and Christina Allen of Food Leads.

And while that conversation was happening, our young people were in another space doing something just as powerful — learning indoor sustainable gardening and growing microgreens with their own hands. Teaching the next generation that healthy food isn't just something you buy. It's something you can grow, understand, and fight for.
