a month that feels like a dream
that crawls out of icy walls
like a whisper in a scream
echoing a hollow reminder that
any goodbye, good morning, i love you
could be the last
and doesn’t that just bite
like a cold wind sinking its teeth
pulling something so much deeper
than blood from your veins
exposing your beating heart
in a world of ice and chains
a beastly type of strength will rise
in the cold winter fog
gnawing at emptiness found
in the steel grey skies
i like to feed it hope
maybe even crumbs of faith
offering candles lit by patience
and denned softly together, we wait
