Everyone knows that my wife Kelli Johnson is a very talented and caring lady. But she really outdid herself this year with our statehouse office Christmas tree. It’s so true that I truly married up and I’m so very proud of all her good work that she not only does for Congressman David Taylor but for everything she does throughout my entire district. I am forever grateful for her Christmas spirit. ❤️

I had the honor to accompany Congressman Dave Taylor and John Carey-Ohio Director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia to the home of Mr. Larry Barnes, a lifelong resident of Vinton County.

Larry was kind to open up his home to us and share his story: Larry has been hauling water in the back of his truck for well over 20 years and just recently, this Vietnam Veteran 🇺🇸 finally has running water! 💦 We take for granted on a daily basis-clean drinking water, water to cook with, water to clean with, so sharing a glass of cold running water with Larry in his kitchen was priceless! Larry has worked tirelessly, advocating for years with so many elected officials as he asked for help, and it finally paid off-along with 25 additional homes that are now fully functioning in his neighborhood…..BUT more homes in Vinton and Hocking still need assistance! Thank you to so many-OVRDC, ARC and ARPA money, and Le-Ax water company making this dream a reality! 🌟

Congressman Taylor, Director Carey and I will continue to fight and help those in rural SE Ohio and within the OH02 to receive basic needs for a more productive way of life!

Today was a picture perfect day in New Lexington, Ohio as we celebrated the preserving of the Perry County Courthouse. This beautiful courthouse was built in 1887 and was in need of repairs and upkeep. With the help of the Perry County Commissioners, staff, stakeholders and so many more-for the years of saving money….today was an amazing day for a ribbon cutting!

Thank you to Commissioner Ben Carpenter, Scott Owen, and Chase Bennett for making an effort to buy materials locally in the renovation project! Some of the items bought locally, include new furniture from Hannah Brothers Furniture in Shawnee, and roof tile from Ludowici Roof Tile in New Lexington!

Today we honor the American worker as we celebrate Labor Day. A holiday originally set aside by our labor unions to help establish many things we take for granted like the 40 hour workweek week, abolish child labor along with better safety conditions on the job.

The Ohio House is moving closer to getting several property tax reforms to the floor for a full vote. Many of you have reached out inquiring about such legislation, the process takes longer than most of us would like. However, our system that was set up by our founding fathers gives all citizens a chance to provide input on how and/or who these changes would effect to ensure it’s good, sound and effective legislation.
