This is Clark and he has a sad story.

We are not sure how he ended up in a hoarding situation, but he was one of 12 cats who lived in hell for years. He lived in a filthy cage with a litter box overflowing with waste. His food and water bowls were either empty or filthy with algae, bugs, and dirty litter. Every cat had their own cage, except a group of 5 females. The singular cats lived in solitary, never experiencing the companionship of a human or another animal. Such inhumanity is very difficult to understand.

Clark's skinny body was a reflection of the many meals that were not served. His body mass was low; describing him as a lean cat was an understatement. His limbs had missing fur from sitting in filth. The space in his cage was tight, only allowing him to sit, loaf, or turn around. This was his life 24/7 for years.

Clark was the first one rescued from that situation. He was initially shy when he arrived at our facility. He was fully vetted and placed in a condo while he recovered. Once he realized that we were friendly and responsible for his regular meals, he relaxed and began allowing pets and sweet talk. Since he arrived 6 weeks ago, he has gained 1 pound and lots of confidence.

He was then placed in a staff member's office and allowed to roam. He really enjoyed that, since he went years without being able to do it; however, he began showing aggression toward some of the male cats, but not all. So, his roaming had to be limited and supervised. He's doing better and is slowly being allowed to roam in the bigger spaces. He prefers the company of humans. He cannot get enough attention and pets. He even loves belly rubs!

He is the only cat from this situation that is socialized. The rest are very shy or unsocialized and a couple semi feral/feral.

Clark is going to make a great companion for any family. He absolutely loves humans and wants to be around them. He is trying to make up for all the years when he didn't receive any of life's basic necessities - sustenance for the body and soul.

Please consider giving Clark a home. He has suffered enough and is yearning to be loved and cared for.
