In a surprising twist to a story previously covered by Criminally Obsessed, Aaron Spencer — an Arkansas man charged with second-degree murder in the 2024 shooting of a man he found with his underage daughter — has announced he is running for Lonoke County Sheriff. Spencer launched his campaign Friday via Facebook, positioning his candidacy as a call for safer communities and greater trust in law enforcement. “This campaign isn’t about me,” he said. “It’s about… every family who deserves to feel safe.” The announcement comes nearly a year after Spencer was accused of fatally shooting 67-year-old Michael Fosler. At the time, Spencer had reported his 14-year-old daughter missing, later locating her in a vehicle with Fosler — who was out on bond and facing charges related to the alleged sexual assault of the same girl. Authorities say Spencer pursued Fosler's car before opening fire. Spencer is currently awaiting trial which is scheduled for January 26, 2026.
