Our office is closed today in observance of Juneteenth and will resume regular business hours tomorrow.
Juneteenth, often referred to as America’s “second Independence Day,” commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States at the end of the Civil War. For more than 150 years, African American communities across the country have honored this day as a time of reflection, freedom, and progress. We recognize Juneteenth by uplifting the values of freedom, innovation, and community, and by honoring the importance of building meaningful connections.
Here in Columbus, there are several ways to take part in local celebrations:
• The 29th Annual Juneteenth Ohio Festival will be held June 19–20 at Genoa Park from 12 PM–11 PM.
• Juneteenth on the Ave takes place June 20 from 12 PM–6 PM along Historic Mt. Vernon Avenue.
We encourage everyone to take part in these meaningful community events as we honor this important day in history.
