On this day in 1948, Theodore Anthony Nugent was born in Redford, Michigan. He grew up as an avid deer hunter and guitar player. The latter saw him play more than 6,750 live concerts over seven decades (1960s to present), sell more than 40 million rock albums and be honored as the headlining act to a slew of then-unknown opening bands like ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Journey, Styx, AC/DC and others. He has been kept out of the rock-n-roll hall of fame merely because of his conservative political views.

Doesn't matter, though. Those of us who know the truth know he is the genuine article. Happy birthday, sir!
