Our first trip to Terre Haute was one to remember. We were welcomed by two days of rain, something us Pennsylvania natives weren’t exactly hoping for! What was supposed to be three full days of racing was condensed into just a day and a half, making for a nonstop weekend packed with action.

A huge hats off to the NASCAR Youth Series staff for getting the entire program completed despite the weather. It wasn’t easy, but they pulled it off and gave everyone who made the trip the opportunity to race.

Mason put together some impressive runs in the Junior classes during qualifying, locking all three of his cars directly into the A-Mains! He kept the momentum rolling in the features, charging to the front and leading laps in both the Jr. Honda and Jr. 160. He wrapped up the weekend with two podium finishes!

Jr. Honda Feature – 4th ➡️ 2nd 🥈
Jr. Animal Feature – 5th ➡️ 4th
Jr. 160 Feature – 3rd ➡️ 3rd 🥉

Braeden had fast cars all weekend as well. Unfortunately, qualifying didn’t go our way, and he had his work cut out for him in the lower mains. We came up just short of transferring two cars out of the B-Mains and one out of the C-Main, but he never quit battling.

Sr. Honda B-Main – 1st ➡️ 5th
Sr. Animal B-Main – 10th ➡️ 6th
Lt. World Formula C-Main – 5th ➡️ 6th

We’re incredibly proud of the effort both boys put in while competing against some of the best quarter midget racers in the country. A special shoutout to Kaden Wenger for making the trip with us and helping the boys all weekend.

Our first national event of the season has come to a close. While the results weren’t what we had hoped for, that’s the reality of racing sometimes.

From the start, this trip felt like an uphill battle for our team and unfortunately the on-track results reflected it. Braeden and Mason each secured one A-Main starting spot, but overall we know we’re capable of much more than what we showed this weekend. The emotion showed.

We’ll take what we’ve learned, regroup and get back to work. Next weekend we’ll be supporting our home club before heading to Indiana for Round 2 of the NASCAR Youth Nationals.
