Holy Father protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11
When I was a young boy, one of my uncles played a trick on me. We were flipping a coin to see who would get to keep it. He said, “heads I win, tails you lose.” I had never seen or heard that trick before and I fell for it. When he explained why he was the winner I was furious. In most of our negotiations in life we are usually trying to manipulate a “win-win” for the result.
When Jesus prayed this prayer, He was praying that all His followers would experience a win-win. He asked the Father to protect His disciples from the world and that they might “be one as We are one.” When God’s church is unified it results in peace, harmony, love and fellowship which is a win for all. Another result is that as the world sees the church demonstrate unity in love, is it would cause them to see the Savior who came to save the world. The result is a win-win, for the Church and the world. Do all you can to be part of God’s answer to Jesus’ prayer. Do all you can to strengthen unity in the Body of Christ.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
My oldest daughter is in her mid twenties. She like most young people would be totally lost without the GPS located in her vehicle or on her phone. My early years of driving included carrying a map in my car to assist me on trips or occasionally stopping and asking for directions. Honestly, I like our modern GPS better than the old way.😊
The Bible is the Christians GPS. It provides guidance for us as we journey through this life. Trying to navigate through life with no direction, and without moral or spiritual boundaries to help us stay on the right path would be impossible without God’s Word. Our verse calls God’s Word a “lamp” and a “light” for guiding our path. A lamp which would have been available to the writer of this Psalm, would have only illuminated his path a few feet ahead of him. The Scriptures are available to us to help us with our daily walk with the Lord. They reveal the steps we need to take each day and makes our path clearer as we walk by faith.
Make studying and obeying God’s Word part of your daily and you will find the guidance and direction you need…Pastor Freddy
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
1 Corinthians 6:19
You have probably heard stories like the foolish man who was trying to push his car even though it was full of gas and capable of running on its own. Or maybe about the woman who was trying to iron her clothes with an iron that wasn’t plugged into the electrical outlet. Or maybe the young boy walking in the dark with a flashlight that he never bothered to turn on.
The point is these people had power available to them but didn’t take advantage of it. The same can be said of many Christians who try living the Christian life in their own strength and efforts. When Jesus left his physical earthly life, He left behind for us the indwelling Holy Spirit who provides all the power we need to accomplish God’s will for our lives.
Walking in the Holy Spirit allows us to become more like Christ as we submit more and more to His controlling power and become more like Him. This understanding helps us to see our difficulties from a different perspective. Satan seeks to harm us, but God uses these difficulties to shape us into being more like Him.
How special is it that we have a Heavenly Father who wants us to be “chips off the old block” and be more like Him.
Take a moment and thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit in your life!
Have a great day…Pastor Freddy
