Phage Display Libraries
Phage display is a high-throughput technology that is used to discover polypeptide-based ligands. The phage particles are genetically engineered to display random sequences on the viral coat proteins. Smith at the University of Missouri, for which he was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2018). Specifically, he used filamentous phage to create a library of random

We are excited to share our latest publication "Improving Pharmacokinetics of Peptides Using Phage Display"!
Our team reviews innovative approaches in phage display for enhancing therapeutic and diagnostic peptides and peptide-conjugated nanoparticles.
Considering pharmacokinetics early on in the drug discovery process paves the way for new therapeutic opportunities but also sets the stage for further innovations in peptide drug development. 🚀
Improving Pharmacokinetics of Peptides Using Phage Display Phage display is a versatile method often used in the discovery of peptides that targets disease-related biomarkers. A major advantage of this technology is the ease and cost efficiency of affinity selection, also known as biopanning, to identify novel peptides. While it is relatively straightforwar...

As we celebrate Women's History Month at Cell Origins, we find it important to recognize the many women scientists who have contributed to the advancement of phage display technology. The pioneering works of women scientists enabled much of the current applications of phage display technology, while the ongoing efforts of many others are continuing to drive this field forward. Through their hard work and dedication to their scientific research, female scientists have made significant contributions that have helped shape the drug discovery process of today.
Women in Phage Display: Dr. Susan Deutscher Cell Origins provides researchers with critical phage-based laboratory services and kits. We focus on the use of filamentous phage as an inexpensive, reliable, highly stable, and effective replacement for many products currently on the market.

Phage display is a powerful tool in drug discovery to select peptides with high binding affinity for their target molecule. However, peptides selected against recombinant proteins often have poor pharmacokinetics, which quickly turns a promising lead into a failure.
To overcome this, at Cell Origins we use a multi-tier selection process where we build the desired in vivo behavior of the peptide into the phage display strategy. We work directly with each client to get an in-depth understanding of the biomarker and disease mechanism. This advanced research strategy is worthwhile since the resulting peptide leads have high binding affinity and exhibit excellent pharmacokinetics.
