I didn't feel like dodging wildfires, so I stayed close to hime yesterday and hiked up to "Garden of Eden"--an idyllic littel meadow up on the shoulder of Pikes Peak. Here's a few from the hike.

I wanted to get out to the high country before the remaining snow melts away (and before the brown haze of wildfires takes over) so I headed for the famous ice lakes area near Silverton. Last time I was there I camped near the lakes and there were only a handful of people there--that was close to 20 years ago when I had more stamina. Now it is a lot more busy but still beautiful in summer. Here's Island Lake at 12,500 feet as sunset approached!

Got in a short storm chase Monday, north of the Palmer Divide, this supercell was a beast and was producing baseball size hail, but failed to get it's act together despite being tornado-warned. Here's a few from the road...it was good to get out and see some old friends....
