If you had a hard night with your kid, you are not alone. πŸ’›

Across Colorado tonight, hundreds of autism families are doing some version of the same thing:

πŸŒ™ Holding a dysregulated child
πŸŒ™ Coaxing a kid back to sleep at 3am
πŸŒ™ Looking at a meltdown that started at 9pm feeling completely depleted
πŸŒ™ Wondering why you said yes to that one party

Here's what's true:

✨ You did your best with hard conditions
✨ Your child's nervous system needs 24–72 hours to recover
✨ Behavior today is post-event recovery, not 'regression'
✨ Low expectations, low demands, quiet routines today

Go gentle. With your kid. With yourself. πŸ’™

Happy Independence Day from all of us at CBLG. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Whether you're at a parade, a backyard, a quiet living room, or driving with your child to find the darkest, calmest spot you can, we hope you have the kind of 4th that works for your family.

Thank you to the military families we serve; we hold you close today.

And to the autism families navigating the loudest holiday of the year, we are with you. πŸ’™

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. A last reminder for the families who need it:

It is okay to make this holiday small.

It is okay to skip the parade.
It is okay to drive to a quiet spot.
It is okay to have hot dogs in the backyard with just your immediate family.
It is okay to put your child to bed at 7pm with noise-canceling headphones on.
It is okay to not post a single Instagram-perfect photo.

A small 4th is not a failed 4th. It's a 4th that works for YOUR family.

If you're a family with an adult child with profound autism, and you've been wondering what the Zebulon Clinic actually looks like, come see it. Take a tour, have a conversation, and walk through the kitchen, the outdoor area, and the spaces where adult learners do real work every day. We know this decision is bigger than a website can answer. Come see if we feel right. If we do, we'll figure out the rest from there.
