Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, and I want to take this time to honor the memories of those transgender people whose lives were taken by anti-trans violence. Our own community of Colorado Springs faces this threat every day, and the Club Q shooting is only the most visible and most recent example of how anti-trans hate threatens our city.

As your state representative, I promise to do all I can to help protect trans Coloradans from hate and violence. Every life lost is an unimaginable tragedy.

Whoot! So excited to see LeAnn Baca Bartlett and Charles Johnson, two of the Colorado Springs Education Association union slate candidates win seats on the D11 school board. Very tight race! The third union candidate was a close 4th place.
D11 needs school board candidates who will support the teachers and the students.

Go Phil Weiser, AG (and other states)!

A federal court has ordered the USDA to explain by Monday how it will provide food benefits to millions of Americans through SNAP during the government shutdown.

The ruling follows a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Phil Weiser and a coalition of 23 attorneys general and three governors this week, challenging the USDA’s decision to suspend benefits. The court agreed that contingency funds appropriated by Congress must be used to fund the program.

“No one should go hungry or experience financial hardship because of political gridlock in Washington, D.C. or an abuse of power by the Trump administration. The court’s order makes clear that the USDA cannot ignore its legal duty to fund SNAP when Congress has made contingency funds available. More than 600,000 Coloradans depend on these benefits to feed themselves and their families, and they must receive this critical food support," said AG Weiser.
